THE ILLUSIONIST

Enjoyable but with no surprises.  Edward Norton usually owns his parts, but not this one.  He sleepwalked through it.  The script didn’t give Jessica Biel much to do but at least she’s nice to look at. Paul Giamatti saved the film.

  1. The Illusionist came out the same year as Christopher Nolan’s The Prestige, both period pieces about illusionists. I don’t think either performed well in the box office. In my opinion The Prestige is the far superior movie and made me a Christopher Nolan fan for life.

  2. I thought I’d reviewed “The Prestige” but it seems I didn’t. Ah well, definitely a superior movie with the benefit of a visit from N. Tesla.
